Natalie Jackson and Emily Freeman founded Totally Runable Limited in 2015, to use running as the tool to build confidence in sport, exercise and life. Totally Runable workshops and courses mix running with mindset training to empower and inspire, and to talk with girls, boys, children and adults, about gender and sport. Since their first pilot course in 2015, and first school-based courses in 2016, Totally Runable has worked with over 2500 pupils and staff, helping schools to measure and work to close their Gender Sport Gap. They are currently working in over 40 schools across the North of England. Over 170 schools have signed up to Totally Runable\’s Girls and Sport Pledge, giving schools who want to be \”doing more for girls in sport\” free support, guidance and resources. Beginning in a spare bedroom with just Natalie and Emily, Totally Runable now employs a team of staff, including a number of current and former high level athletes, to help run workshops and courses, acting as awesome role models for pupils and school staff as well as providing a pathway for retirement from sports careers. Totally Runable\’s #SeeSportyBeSporty campaign has featured on BBC Look North, as well as in the Guardian/Observer. Over 1500 people (and counting) have signed the #SeeSportyBeSporty petition calling for sport in the media to be more gender equal.
